weather is forcing the party to move it to president's acceptance speech into another venue. republicans are already calling it a cop out. tracie potts has this report. >> there are probably going to be a lot of disappointed volunteers, who cannot it all fit in here. some of them worked extra hours to get a ticket and now it is unclear if it they will see the president at all. the tnc says is a safety issue -- dnc says it is a safety issue, that the threat of thunderstorms is too dangerous. they have moved the president's acceptance speech from this stadium to the arean inside. >> i hear the determination in his voices. -- voice. is not right. we have got to fix it. >> we will not see denver's

overflow crowd from 2008. the dnc says that some community ticket holders will have to be turned away. already, republicans have issued a statement wondering whether the fear of not filling seats has prompted the move. president clinton is the main speaker here tonight. paul ryan talked about that at a campaign event today. >> my guess is that we will get a great rendition of how great things were in the 1990's, but not much about how things had been at the past four years. >> democrats are scrambling to regroup because of the weather. president was supposed to arrive here today and there was also supposed to be a voter registration drive. tracie potts, wbal-tv 11 news. >> maryland gov. martin o'malley was one of last night's speakers, and he is receiving praise for his work.

analysts have said that his performance was better this year than in 2004. he walked out to a cheering crowd on tuesday night and told them that america needs to move forward. the way to do that, according to the governor, reelect president obama. >> we understand that progress is a choice. job creation is a choice. whether we move forward or back, this, too, is a choice, and that is what this election is all about. >> baltimore native senator barbara mikulski is slated to speak at the convention tonight. another maryland politician is facing legal troubles. ifother woman is claiming t she was sexually harassed by anne arundel county executive john leopold. carla sagerholm describes herself as an employee of leopold's office who is on leave because of what she calls "the

toxic environment in the office." sagerholm says "it was degrading to be the subject of people's sexual talk." sagerholm went on to say "leopold was aware that i had done some modeling in the past, and asked to look at my photographs. he especially wanted me to show him photos of me in a bathing suit." leopold faces charges of allegedly misusing security detail. the 17-year-old victim in last week's shooting in perry hall high school is improving. doctors upgraded his condition from critical to serious 11. news has also learned that the suspect in the shooting, robert gladden jr., has been indicted by grand jury. faces nine counts of attempted murder. although he only fired two shots

last monday, documents showed he intended to kill eight other people. as the case unfolds, parents in the perry hall community are questioning officials on everything from safety protocols to crisis counseling. questions were posed tuesday night about what happened at the first day of school and what is being done to prevent similar incidents in the future. in addition to putting more pressure on school faculty, roberts said it comes down to social media awareness. >> if you see someone like this, even if it is a friend making comments, just know that it is not cool, not ok, not just no big deal. it comes down to you, parents, ross, educators, and the students. -- us, educators, and the students. >> he says the possibility of installing metal detectors will

come at a later date. an administrator who has dealt with this situation in kentucky will address the school later this month. >> we are keeping a close eye on the radar as there is a possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon. right now maryland looks dry, but a few showers are popping up and rainshowers are moving across the appellations through virginia. this is something we will have to watch out for. 83 degrees at b.w.i. thurgood marshall. we have a lot of clouds in the sky as we take you through the forecast, temperatures in the mid-to-upper-80's. there are your current conditions at the airport. through the afternoon, expect temperatures in the mid-80's. best chances through 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. you will have to watch out for lightning as well.

>> the man who camden, new jersey police say stabbed two children in the throat, killing one of them, appeared in court for arraignment. he is accused of killing a 6- year-old and trying to kill his 12-year-old sister. he admitted that he was high on a combination of marijuana and pcp before the slaying. outside the court, prosecutors say that the little boy was

killed because he was trying to fend off the man, who was attacking and sexually assaulting his sister. the nation will acknowledge the first man to set foot on the moon next thursday. a memorial service will be held for neil armstrong at the washington national cathedral. it is open to the public, and nasa television plans to broadcast the event. the astronauts died on august 25, as you recall. service will happen 50 years and one day after president john f. kennedy pledged to send a man to the moon. still to come in, when hearing the term at ptsd, the majority of people think of the military, but anyone can develop the condition. we look at the research aimed at preventing this common disorder. >> we have two tropical storms

i want to show you the dew points temperatures. you add this with the temperatures, and it feels a lot more uncomfortable outdoors. it feels like the upper eighties to low 90s when you get downtown, and that is because dew points temperatures are in the low 70's. in little but drier as you get out west. this is as a cold front is starting to inch its way into the area. we have the clouds scattered about associated with the cold front. not the cloud cover, but enough that you have a chance for thunderstorms as we get into the afternoon. high pressure trying to come in behind this. there is an area of low pressure out west. in line of storms is moving across indiana towards the storm system. this is going to stall out across our region. this brings chances for storms. eventually, a significant

without behind the final front. this area of high-pressure is a piece of leftovers of isaac. it may develop into something to reduce the storms across the gulf coast. if this redevelops, which is a 20% chance, it will be renamed into a new system. we are watching two more substantial storms in the tropics. this is tracking off to the north. it is lesley then as the biggest concern -- leslie that has the biggest concern. we are expecting this to stay off shore. this is something we will watch out for in the coming days. partly cloudy skies, and evening thundershowers are possible

through the afternoon. and we clear out overnight. only an isolated chance for a thunderstorm. that takes us to our seven-day forecast. isolated chance of storms, and then the next front moves in and we see a more substantial chance of storms. >> a new study reveals just a few extra minutes could mean the difference between life and death. researchers examining data from 63,000 patients who underwent hospital resuscitation and found that survival rates went up in cases where the efforts were extended by 15 minutes. the study also showed a cardiac arrest patients where the resuscitation attempts lasted longest were most likely to be revived and discharge from the hospital. if you work in front of a computer all day, he might feel neck and shoulder pain.

coffee may help. researchers asked six to perform a series of computer tasks, and some drank coffee and some did not. both groups reported discomfort, but those who consume the coffee before the assignment had significantly less pain than those who went without. very interesting. when most people determine posttraumatic stress disorder, they think of the military. but it does not discriminate. anyone can develop the condition. researchers at emory university are looking at, patients who never set foot on the battlefield with the hopes of preventing ptsd from developing. >> she spent most of her adult life looking for healing after surviving a violent rape and shooting as a young woman. >> my on father could not even hug me. i would lay in bed and pray that my husband would not even touch me. >> susan was a mentally divested

posttraumatic stress disorder -- eventually and diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. this researcher at emory says that most think that ptsd is a soldier's disease. >> about 7% of us will be exposed to a traumatic event -- 70% of us be exposed to a traumatic event that could lead to ptsd. >> she recruited patients to the trauma center in atlanta. they had been in a car accident, assault, or shine. therapists reported accounts of the sprints within hours of when they got to the er, and then the hate -- had them -- >> maybe we can change it so that idea is not the type of

thing that can lead to ptsd. >> people got the treatment at half the rate of ptsd and significantly less depression. a trip like this could have made a difference in susan's life. >> a real test of survivorship came after the assault was over. >> coming up, your maryland lottery numbers.
